Sometimes places surprise you. There are places you are excited about that let you down. Then some places, like Venice for me that aren't much on your radar and totally blow you away. From the moment I saw the grand canal I was smitten.

Throughout its 1,600 year history and against all odds Venice has solved for rising sea levels, the sinking of the city, sewage problems and adequate drinking water supply

There are 4 bronze horses in the museum at the Cathedral de San Marco that were looted from Constantinople
