Fun Facts

  • This stop was very special to me, as I got to see my wife Amy after 18 years apart which is hard to believe since we still look just as young! You can see in the photo that both Amy and Jessica tower over me. When Amy walked up to me she patted me on the head and said, 'wow you're so little' lol! I said well I'm actually quite tall for Miami ;-) It was glorious to reunion and to have a girls day at the tennis which brings me to my next story

  • I went to the open as a non sports fan because my friend Arun and his tennis teammates who have been in a league for over 10 years were going to go.  When I went to see them play a few years ago I kept calling it "the tennis".  He would tease me saying it's just "tennis".  But when I got to Australia I saw "the tennis" everywhere! I told Amy and she said, "well what else would you call it?" to which I of course replied 'tennis' and she said "no! its the tennis" and I said "I know!"

  • The city has one of the highest numbers of restaurants and cafés per capita in the world.

  • Melbourne has the largest tram network in the world

  • Melbourne is famous for having “four seasons in one day."

  • It's a sports hub! Home of the Australian Open, Formula 1 Grand Prix, AFL Grand Final, and the iconic Melbourne Cup (“the race that stops the nation”).
