Bryndzové Halušky

Honestly, I didn't have many expectations of the food in Slovakia.  Add to that my first meal was at my hotel which further lowered my expectations.   And I was totally blown away.  This dish is like a love child between gnocchi and Mac and cheese.  Sheep's milk cheese is a BIG deal in Slovakia and that combined with chives and bacon slaps hard! Just heavenly.

Kreme

Is this the perfect dessert??? Again, heaven.  Close your eyes (and have a friend read this to you): Picture a layer of creamy pudding, then on top fluffy light whipped cream, then think flaky pastry and just when you think you can't take anymore, add a think layer of dark chocolate ganache.  Phenomenal.​

Tatra Tea

Named for the High Tatras, the mountain range in Slovakia, this is a liqeur made with tea that is warming on a blustery winter's day.  They have many flavors but I personally like the hibiscus!  Served neat or over ice on its own is perfect.

Hermelínky

These were what convinced me I need to check out McDonald's in every country.  (even though I rarely go in US) I saw an advertisement that said Mc Cheesy and vowed to investigate.  They are basically mozzarella sticks but creamier.  One of the lucky cases where something is as good as I hoped!
