​Bratislava is known as the coronation city because it being on the Danube made it the perfect location . Between 1563 and 1830 11 Hungarian Kings and 8 Hungarian Queens were crowned at St. Martin's Cathedral.

Slovakia was only part of the Austro Hungarian Empire for 51 years.

The original name of Bratislava was Pressburg. It changed to Bratislava with the fall of the Austrian Hungarian Empire in 1919.

Slovakia is the largest producer of cars in the world. Audi, Porsche and Land Rover all have factories there.
