The Sights
Nike is the Goddess of Victory and the statue, discovered in 1863 on the Greek island of Samothrace, is renowned for its dynamic and dramatic composition. The dramatic wings making the figure seem alive, as if it’s caught in the moment of victory. It is poised at the top of a staircase above one of the entrances to the Louvre adding to the victorious stature.
Foie Gras
​Luckily, prior to catching the Noro virus, I was able to eat this seared Foie Gras, served with warm apple and pomegranate seeds, and washed it down with French champagne.
Sacre Coeur
Meaning, The Sacred Heart, this church stands at the top of Paris in the lovely Montmartre neighborhood. A favorite of mine over Notre Dame, it had been a few years since I had been inside and going inside, I was taken away at the profound peace and intimacy yet grandeur within its' walls.
Pain aux Raisin
To me, far superior to croissants and even pain au chocolate is the pain aux raisin. Moist, and chewy speckled with sweet, raisins.
The Eiffel Tower is cold, wet, the elevator quick, the sky a blanket of clouds and the first sight of scar coeur on the hilltop the crown of Paris
